Family Finances
Every family arranges their finances differently. Your income, pensions and assets may be bound up together and there will be many options to consider when looking at ways to resolve your finances. It is important to establish the needs of both parties and to obtain financial disclosure so that negotiations can begin to separate your finances ahead of a fresh start.
We will give you honest, realistic advice as to how your finances can be resolved. We listen, advise and act accordingly on your behalf.
We encourage a collaborative approach where both parties agree not to take the matter to court, especially when children are involved. We offer round table meetings with your ex’s solicitors to handle this and resolve disputes in a non-confrontational way or, if that is not a practical option, you may prefer us to negotiate via written correspondence with the other solicitors. If your case does have to proceed to court, you can be assured that we can attend on your behalf, so you do not have to face that experience yourself.
We will consider your immediate financial needs, short term needs and also the long-term future. Together we can explore all the available options to put you back on the right track whether you wish to remain living in your former matrimonial home, require a lump sum payment to buy another property, require pension provision by way of a pension sharing order, or require maintenance for yourself or your children if you have been left in a difficult financial position.
